I got to know Tom when I was the Program Coordinator at the BOCES Seaman Neck Middle School. In those days both the BOCES Eagle Avenune MS and Seaman Neck MS had the extended year summer program (EYP) at Seaman Neck.
The regular program was shut down the last day of school in June and 2 programs had to be set up effective the first week of every July and shut down again in August for the regualr classes to begin that next September.
This meant that every year all the office phones in the building had to be changed 3 times to accomodate staff members who may not be working in the EYP for different staff members that were going to work. It was a big job and Tom was always there to help me with it and to trouble shoot for me when things went wrong.
I found Tom to be a kind and gentle man who had a great sense of humor and lots of stories to tell. I loved to banter with him back and forth in those days (I stopped working in the EYP in 2015).
Tom was a loyal employee of Nassau BOCES even when he came back a few days a week to work in his retirement. I will always remember that smile on his face and the fun we had as we worked those days and for me Tom Jackson will be one of those unforgettable characters in one's life that will "never be forgotten."
Tom, if you hear me, rest in peace with the Lord Jesus!!
My Best,
Bob Dreaper
