Ruth “Lannie” Nowlin Gray departed this life on April 23, 2023. Born on November 1, 1936, she was the beloved wife of Eugene Lewis Gray (deceased) and a devoted mother to her only child, Christopher Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Coleman Harris, her brother, James Nowlin, and her nephew, James Nowlin, Jr.
Ruth grew up on White Rock Hill in Lynchburg, Virginia and had a love for her family and friends. She left Lynchburg upon graduation from Dunbar High School in 1955 to attend medical school in Richmond, Va. When she graduated from medical school, she relocated to New York city where she was a head nurse at New York University Hospital for over 35 years. Ruth’s heart was always in Lynchburg so she regularly came home to visit her family and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday April 29, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Cecere Family Funeral Home 2283 Grand Ave. Baldwin, NY 11510.
