Obituary for Wellesley Roberts

Wellesley S. Roberts Sr of Freeport N.Y. passed away on February 28th 2022, in North shore LIJ after enduring a long illness. He was born on June 2nd 1952 to the late Abraham and Olga Roberts in St. Thomas Jamaica, West Indies. He is survived by his spouse Jean C. Roberts and his 4 children Beverly, Wellesley Jr. (Nivia), Wendall (Keisha), and Wayland (Nastasha). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaila, Coryn, Kamille, Kirsten, Wendall, Jaiden and Alexis., several siblings, nieces and nephews. Wellesley studied agriculture while attending school in Jamaica and had the proverbial green thumb. He was also a skilled chef always preparing seasonal and cultural dishes during the holiday season and welcoming his friends and family to enjoy them. He enjoyed listening to his old school reggae music, cooking and preparing seafood. He always knew just what to say when you were having a bad day. Wellesley migrated from Jamaica to the United States in the early 80s in search of a better life. It is there he would meet Jean C. Hatch; their union would be fruitful and produce 4 wonderful children and a lifetime of great memories. Wellesley was a devoted father and always made it a purpose to give back to his family and friends in Jamaica. He was a problem solver who learned that the best way to discipline his kids was by talking and lecturing them for hours. Wellesley was a spiritual and proud man and will be deeply missed by the family, friends and all who knew him.
