Tanya (Tanny) Maria Lewis Hawkins passed away on March 30,2020 at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, Long Island NY due to complications of COVID-19. She was 64 years old. Born on November 16, 1955 in Newburgh, NY to parents, Mary B. Lewis and Joseph S. Lewis Sr. Tanny married Clyde Hawkins Sr and had 3 children from that union. She resided in Newburgh most of her life, eventually moving to Johnson City NY, then to Long Island NY. She loved music, cooking, her coffee and she always had a stash of candy. Tanny was quiet and had a sweet disposition. Her family wanted more time with her, but it wasn’t in Gods plan. She will be sorely missed.
Besides her children, Tanny is survived by her mother, Mary B. Lewis of West Haven, CT, her sister, Mary F. Lewis of Hamden CT, her brothers, Reggie (Darnez) Lewis of West Haven, CT and Trevor Lewis of New Haven, CT. Also a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, including a great friend, Melony.
