Obituary for Robert P. Keener

Keener, Robert P. of Jacksonville, FL on March 24, 2012 following a seven month battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was the life partner of Earl Futch. Beloved son of Gail and Paul Keener of Baldwin, N.Y. The oldest of eight siblings, he was the devoted brother of Judi White, Tommy, Jaime, Rick (Gina), Tara Feldman (Hal), Kevin (Eileen) and Erin Haas (Eddie). The adored and “fun” uncle of Gregg, Travis, Corey, Marisa, Christopher, Michael, Samantha, Nicky, Dean, Sidney, Zachary, Jason, Hayden, Danielle, Megan, Kerri, Emily, JT, Jordan, and Brendan. Grand Uncle of Kylie White. He also leaves behind his Aunts, Uncles and many cousins. Rob served in the U.S. Navy for seven years. Following his discharge he settled in Jacksonville, FL. He was a registered X-Ray technologist, who moved up the ranks to eventually become supervisor of the radiology dept. He continued to elevate himself in the medical field. He was instrumental in establishing the electronic medical record system known as Epic at Shands’ Medical Teaching Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He was respected and loved by many, especially his friends who were by his side thoughout his illness. He impacted and made his mark on so many people including neighbors, who mourn his loss. He loved playing flag football, cruising on his boat, traveling, roller staking and bicycling in 26 mile marathons for many disease related events. Gardening, dressing up for Halloween, participating in parades and celebrations for all occasions was his passion. He was the “Easter Bunny” and “Santa “ in his neighborhood. He was also the “Water Street Prankster”. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for a friend or a homeless animal. Rob was a caring, loving, generous man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. His love for family will be with us forever. His family will attend 10:30 am mass on Sunday April 15, 2012, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Centennial Ave. Roosevelt, N.Y. We will Remember Rob, pray for him and thank God that his suffering has ended. We will then celebrate his life and his 55th birthday on the day he was born April 15 , 1957. A memorial service and cremation took place in Jacksonville, Florida on March 30, 2012 followed by a gathering at his home and beloved dock with his grieving life-partner, Earl, and all their friends. www.CecereFamilyFunerals.com
