Obituary for Constance D. Gronenberg

Gronenberg, Constance D. lifelong resident of Baldwin, on October 30, 2013, after a 10 month struggle with cancer. Connie was the treasured daughter of the late Aloysius and Christine Gronenberg. She was a beloved cousin, god-mother, mentor and friend who touched many lives with her kind heart and gentle manner. Though especially dear to Patricia Bennetter-Meszaros, Rebecca Meszaros, Margaret Meszaros, Christopher Meszaros, Donald Bennetter, Suzanne Middendorf and Christian Morck, she is survived by and will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Connie taught at Freeport High school for thirty five years. Beginning in 1958 as a German teacher, she spent the greater part of her teaching career as a Spanish teacher and department head. As a parishioner of St. Christopher Church in Baldwin, Connie served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Ministry of Consolation and a volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Also, she volunteered at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside for more than four decades, serving most of that time in the admitting office. Connie was a life long resident of Baldwin and until March of this year, spent her life residing in the same home she was born in . Though she never moved from her home , she had traveled the world in her lifetime. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Cecere Family Funeral Home 2283 Grand Avenue, Baldwin.
